Description
A very early English pocket watch with a chronometer escapement! Pierre Le Roy invented the chronometer escapement in 1748; John Arnold improved it 20 years later; and in 1782, Thomas Earnshaw refined it into the form that persists to this day: the detent chronometer escapement. The Sharp chronometer belongs to this first generation and is a magnificent example of the chronometers of its era.
